PICO Dressing Troubleshooting

  • The majority of issues are due to an air leak either from the dressing being wrinkled along the edges or the hose being screwed in incorrectly.

    • Adding a tegaderm or similar dressing to the edges of the dressing, especially near wrinkled areas usually solves an air leak due to a wrinkled dressing

  • Other times it may be due to a dead battery, bandage being full of fluid/drainage

  • Rarely is the actual device malfunctioning

  • The device has indicator lights which will help diagnose the issue

  • The 14 day PICO should be changed at day 7 to the 2nd bandage and then left on for an additional 7 days.

    • Leaving the pico on for the full 14 days in a row may lead to wound maceration
